With the Chicago Bears’ latest injury report posted on Friday afternoon, three players are officially done for the 2024-25 season after being ruled out of Sunday’s game in Green Bay.
Teven Jenkins, Travis Homer, and Elijah Hicks will not suit up for the Chicago Bears this Sunday.
Jenkins, Homer, and Hicks are the three significant players on the injury report who will not play this week. Each has missed a couple games this season but will not have another chance to put on the pads when the calendar turns to 2025. Jenkins, the team’s second-round pick in 2021, will be unavailable to face the Packers due to a calf problem.
The 26-year-old concluded the 2024-25 season with an overall PFF grade of 75.4, placing him 16th out of 130 eligible guards. His run and pass-blocking grades on PFF were virtually similar, but he struggled to stay on the field again this season.
Homer is out with a hamstring ailment. The second-year Chicago Bear has largely played on special teams, with only six carries for 23 yards on the season. Before moving to Chicago, the running back was a member of the Seattle Seahawks.
Hicks is unable to play this week due to a foot/ankle ailment. Hicks, a seventh-round pick out of Cal in 2022, received some playing time this year after Jaquan Brisker developed concussion symptoms. The 25-year-old finished the season with 24 solo tackles and two pass breakups.
The Chicago Bears may not have Teven Jenkins or Travis Homer back next season.
Jenkins and Homer’s future with the Chicago Bears is uncertain after this week. There have been rumors in recent weeks that Jenkins will not be part of the front office’s plans for the 2025-26 season. If this is the case, the team will need to add three offensive lineman this offseason.
Homer’s contract, like Jenkins’, expires at the end of the year, and his time in Chicago has not always been successful. Even though special teams are Homer’s bread and butter, the Chicago Bears front office paid him more than $4 million over the last two seasons. Many believe Ryan Poles overpaid for this signing, and it could be used against him when deciding on the general manager’s future this summer.
