For the first time in team history, the Lions have ten wins in two seasons, and their ability to play well away from home has played a significant role in their success. Sunday’s 24-6 victory in Indianapolis improved the Lions’ record outside of Detroit to 6-0 this season.
They are the only team that has remained unbeaten on the road this season, which is a significant improvement over head coach Dan Campbell’s 0-11-1 record in his first 12 away games.
Campbell mentioned that quarterback Jared Goff is one of the veterans “responsible for the flip,” and Goff celebrated the team’s victory following Sunday’s win.
“We’re road warriors. “We love it,” Goff told ESPN.com’s Eric Woodyard. “We come together on the road, and we have an us-versus-the-world mindset, and it’s exciting when we can bring our own supporters here. It’s quite incredible how they present themselves. They work quite hard.”
The Lions are the NFC’s first 10-win club this season, but the Eagles and Vikings are chasing them for the conference lead. That could lead to their ability to win on the road being the reason they don’t have to play in the postseason.
