The Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks are preparing for what promises to be an exciting College Football Playoff battle on New Year’s Eve. Both teams are regarded legitimate national championship contenders. They played previously this season, and Oregon won by one point, 32-31.
These two teams are well-matched on both sides of the football field. Neither side has an obvious advantage over the other. At this point, this appears to be the weekend’s most entertaining clash. With that in mind, various predictions for the game have begun to emerge. Mark Ingram, a former college football sensation and NFL running back, has spoken out.
He feels Ohio State will be able to pull out the victory and go to the next round. “I think those two losses put this team in the right mindset, and I think it’s going to be a close, tough battle,” Ingram told reporters. “But I believe Ohio State finds a way to win this game, man. This will be a straight-up dogfight, the kind of game that all college football fans want. We’ll get it in this game, but I predict a walk-off field goal.”
Needless to say, the Buckeyes’ fan base will adore this prediction. Seeing Ohio State kick a walk-off field goal would have been exactly what fans had hoped for when these two teams first met.
Unfortunately, on the game’s last drive, the Buckeyes fell just short. Nothing would satisfy Ohio State more than avenging its earlier-season setback. It would be much more satisfying to do so in the playoffs and bring the Ducks’ season to an end. Ryan Day and his team face a formidable challenge. Dan Lanning and his Oregon team are good. They have few weaknesses.
When all is said and done, the side that follows their game strategy and plays harder will win. Hopefully, the Buckeyes will come out on top and get one step closer to their ultimate objective of capturing a national title.
