The Detroit Lions are making their final push to win the NFC North division and earn a No. 1 seed in the NFL playoffs. Two members of the roster can work towards contract bonuses that will increase their bank account balance.
ESPN’s Ben Baby researched numerous incentives available to several NFL players, using data from the Roster Management System. Jared Goff is having a career season and is in the MVP debate after leading his club to a 13-2 record. If the Lions win the Super Bowl and the 30-year-old plays 50 percent of offensive snaps, Goff’s base salary in 2028 will rise by $1 million.
General manager Brad Holmes bolstered the defense by dealing for veteran defensive end Za’Darius Smith. Unfortunately, Marcus Davenport is sidelined for the rest of the season, and the organization has moved on from James Houston.
According to ESPN, Smith needs two more sacks to reach ten for the season and earn $250,000. If he can secure four more, the Lions will give him a $500,000 bonus. If he meets either incentive, he will receive an additional $250,000 if the Lions make the playoffs.”
