Josh Allen resumed his MVP campaign with another outstanding performance on Sunday evening. Allen and the Bills proceeded to Ford Field for a highly anticipated game against the 12-1 Detroit Lions, which might serve as a preview for this year’s Super Bowl meeting. Allen completed 23 of his 34 pass attempts, for 361 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The dynamic dual-threat quarterback also rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns on ten touches.
Allen’s dual-threat talent has become typical in recent seasons. In fact, the 28-year-old quarterback created NFL history with his Week 15 effort on Sunday evening. Allen is the first player in NFL history to score more than 35 passing and rushing touchdowns in four straight seasons. “He is not human,” the Bills stated in a post on X to announce Allen’s unprecedented performance.
Allen came into the day as the clear favorite to win the 2024 MVP. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson bolstered his MVP case with a five-touchdown performance early on, but Allen responded with a masterclass of his own.
Allen led the Bills to a 48-42 victory over the Lions, who had won 11 consecutive games before Week 15. Buffalo’s season record now stands at 11-3 following this tremendous road victory.
In Week 13, the Bills defeated the San Francisco 49ers to clinch first place in the AFC East. Allen and his Buffalo Bills are currently preparing for their Week 16 game against the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon.
