The Ohio State Buckeyes are expected to lose a few of quarterbacks this offseason via the NCAA transfer portal. Devin Brown is one of the quarterbacks preparing to leave the program. Brown has shown flashes of potential, but he has yet to establish continuous playing time. He is seeking for a squad where he can start the season as the clear-cut starter.
During his three years at Ohio State, Brown completed 55.3 percent of his pass attempts for 325 yards, three touchdowns, and one pick. He also gained 37 yards and a touchdown on the rush. Who might end up landing Brown? The Buckeyes face a nightmarish predicament. Wynston Wilcox of FanSided has proposed that Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers could be a good fit. That’s one place Ohio State would hate to see him leave.
“Day and Curt Cignetti are developing a rivalry following their first meeting in Big Ten competition this season. If Cignetti went to the portal to replace Kurtis Rourke and chose Devin Brown as a replacement, Day would be hating himself. And if Cignetti wins, Day may not make it to his sixth appearance in The Game as a head coach. It wouldn’t necessarily be the best landing location for Brown. But it may be fascinating when the two face off.” Indiana appears to be a club that has the potential to become a serious title contender in the near future. They’ve already advanced to the College Football Playoff this season.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, the Hoosiers will need to replace Kurtis Rourke. He is graduating, and Brown would be an excellent choice to provide Indiana with a legitimate starter.
There will be a number of other clubs searching for quarterback assistance on the portal as well. While the Indiana Hoosiers are a squad to keep an eye on, there have been no reports of interest. At this point, this is just a reasonable proposal. Only time will tell, but this might be a catastrophic situation for the Buckeyes. Hopefully, Brown finds a solid landing spot that isn’t in the Big Ten.
