With the Detroit Lions boosting their Super Bowl hopes in the 2024 NFL season, head coach Dan Campbell sent a clear message to quarterback Jared Goff and the rest of his players.
The Detroit Lions have emerged as the team to watch in the 2024 NFL season. After years of hard work, Dan Campbell and Jared Goff are now giving residents in the Motor City reasons to hope through a long-awaited Super Bowl trip.
However, the head coach believes the playoffs could have come sooner for his club. As a result, Campbell has made it clear to Goff and everyone of his players that the upcoming games would be considered as postseason fights.
“We’re in playoff football right now,” Campbell said, before reminding the rest of the NFL that December will help the Lions prepare for the playoffs. “That’s where we are at.
We are in December, according to our schedule. We play tough opponent after tough opponent; we have another one on the way, and there will be plenty of them. This is the kind of stuff you live for. It’s also the stuff that prepares you for the competition.
Campbell makes a valid point. The Lions’ next game is a Thursday Night Football matchup against division rivals the Green Bay Packers, who have a 9-3 record and are competing in the NFC North.
The next week, Detroit will play Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, who are seeking the No. 1 spot in the AFC with a 10-2 record that has already seen Sean McDermott’s team earn the AFC East title.
Following that game, the team will travel to the Windy City to face NFC North rivals the Chicago Bears, with a road game against the San Francisco 49ers slated for the following week. In the 2024 NFL regular season finale, the Lions will face another division opponent. This time, they will face the Minnesota Vikings, who are now 10-2. Campbell has reasons to believe that December will be a playoff month for his squad.
With an 11-1 record, the Lions are now the top club in the NFL, sharing the lead with the Chiefs. When compared to the defending Super Bowl champions, Campbell’s team is usually regarded as superior.
With a dynamic offense headed by Goff at quarterback, Detroit is on a 10-game winning streak, the longest in the NFL. The Lions have not lost since Week 2, when they lost 16-20 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Will they keep up and make a lengthy postseason run?
